Mother’s Day Gift Guide For Traveling Moms
When I began to think about my recommendations for a Mother’s Day Gift Guide for Traveling Moms, I couldn’t help but think about the gifts that I would love to get. After all, I’m a traveling mom!
Here are some of my top picks!
Zee Alexis “Danielle” Woven Sneakers
These Danielle woven sneakers by Zee Alexis will immediately become your mom’s go-to travel shoes. Athletic shoes are often among the heaviest and bulkiest things we have to pack but these shoes are so lightweight, flexible and versatile that your mom won’t give a second thought as to whether or not she should take them. Featherweight, they weigh only 12 ounces packaged in their box!
Made of woven nylon, the material is comfortable, washable and forgiving. It even accommodates bunions (it did for me). Danielle comes in a choice of colors. I like the Stone Multi/Turquoise ones shown because they are neutral enough, with a whimsical sole and matching elastic laces.
No-tie laces make them easy to take off and on—so they’re great for passing through security checkpoints quickly. The rubber soles are suitable for almost any type of travel whether it’s walking on cobblestone streets, strolling on a sandy beach or navigating the slippery deck of a cruise ship. The removable memory foam insole led Oprah to say that wearing them was like “walking on a mattress.”
Where to find them:
You can buy them directly from the Zee Alexis website (where shipping and returns are free or on Amazon.com.
Anatomie Travel Wear
Anatomie makes a line of elegant travel wear—pants, jacket, tops, dresses and more—that will make your mom look and feel her best. Made of lightweight, breathable, washable, wrinkle-resistant fabrics, all of the items travel and pack well. I first became acquainted with them when browsing in a small boutique in the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental Miami.
The company is the brainchild of Kate and Shawn Boyer who transitioned their activewear background into the trendy athleisure category. They then took it the next level as a travel-specific luxury line, now sold in 400 specialty stores, private clubs, resorts, golf shops, and spas.
The combination of the Kenya Safari Jacket and Kate Skinny Cargo Pant make the perfect travel outfit for your mom’s next trip. The stretchable fabric is comfortable and easy to wear on even the longest flights. She’ll look as tailored and attractive at her destination as when she left home.
Where to find them:
You can order Anatomie travel wear online (domestic shipments over $100 are complimentary) or use the online locator to find a store near you.
Parker Tote by Solo New York
They call it a “hybrid” because it can either be used as a tote or a backpack. Your mom will be able to figure out how she wants to wear it depending on the situation.
Although the tote has a slender profile, its padded laptop compartment fits a 15.6″ laptop. One one side, the bag has a convenient outside zippered pocket; on the other, a fabric panel that slides over the handle of a carryon bag. The interior is lined in a light pinstripe so she’ll be able to find what she needs without resorting to a flashlight.
Its fashionable basic black with gold hardware will allow mom to use it for business or pleasure. Durable? It even comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
Where to find them: You can purchase the Parker Tote directly from Solo New York or at a number of retail outlets.
For the Italophile: Mionetto Rosé
If your mom loves traveling to Italy and hasn’t stopped talking about the apertivos she enjoyed while she was there, you can bet she’s a Prosecco lover. (Prosecco is the essential ingredient of the spritz cocktail.)
And if she loves Prosecco, she’ll be wild about the peach blossom blush (and taste) of this Mionetto Rosé Extra Dry, a sparkling rosé that gets its color from the soft pressing of red grapes. The subtle fruity flavor evokes hints of violet, raspberry, morello cherry and wild strawberry.
If you really want to win her heart, make her a Mionetto Rosa Amara Spritz. The recipe: 3 parts Mionetto Sparkling Rosé, 2 parts Sparkling Water, and 1 part Campari with a grapefruit peel garnish.
Where to find them: Mionetto can be found in most wine and spirit stores; you can call your local wine merchant or check out the locator on the company website.
DivvyUp Custom Socks
I think this is the neatest gift ever! I bought a pair for my son’s girlfriend over the holidays and she was bowled over.
Choose a design for the custom socks you’re gifting your mom. It can be your face; her face; the face of her dog, cat or horse; her favorite product; or even her company logo. After you upload the digital photo to the DivvyUp website, you choose a size and color for the custom socks. Ten days after you place the order, the socks will arrive in the mail.
Want to give her the option of creating her own design? You can purchase a gift card redeemable for a pair of socks. If your mom lives far away, socks travel well and take up precious little space in a suitcase.
Where to find them: You can purchase the socks on Amazon or directly on the DivvyUp website
Disclosure: I received some product samples for review and will receive a small commission on some of the items available for purchase through Amazon but any opinions expressed in this post are my own. I carefully curated this gift guide to reflect my personal opinion of some great gifts.
