At age 48, I rode a horse for the first (possibly the last) time at a working ranch up in Northern Canada. It was a great experience being on the ranch and I am glad to say I did that trail ride, but some things are best tried once. Nice blog post, Irene.

For 14 years (back in the 80s, my husband, son and I spent a week at a luxury “working” (if you wanted) ranch in Granby, Colorado. Every year was wonderful — the “men” would ride for 4 – 6 hours a day and I would ride for 3 hours a day (and then take an afternoon nap or read). Everything is included, the food is great, you sleep like a baby, and come home with sore muscles but stress-free. Best vacation ever!!

Sounds like a great adventure. I’d love to do something “western” but not quite as challenging as rounding up cattle. I know there are a several options, and it’s on my list to check them out this year.
